ENG 592 Graduate Proseminar II
Introduction
Research is recursive, and you will be conducting many searches -- some the same, some new and different -- over the course of your degree. You'll want to keep your searches and their results saved in places where you can return to them over and over. You also might want to consider using a citation management tool to organize all of your citations for multiple projects in one place, and to create bibliographies for your works.
Citation Management Tools
Visit the Libraries' Citation Managers subject guide to compare three tools: Zotero, Mendeley, and EndNote Basic.
Keeping Track of Your Searches
There are several ways you can keep track of your searches and results while you're searching.
Library Account: On the Libraries' homepage, click on My Account at the top center of the page. Login with your username and password, and 2FA one-time password. Now you can return to the homepage and select the type of search you want to do. Once you've entered your search terms and have results, you can save individual and multiple items, as well as your search query (including any filters you've selected) to your account. You can then return to your account and access any saved items, and you can also rerun any saved searches.
Database Accounts: If you're searching in individual databases, you can create accounts for each vendor (EBSCO, ProQuest, JSTOR, etc.), and, like in your Library Account, you can save items and searches, and set up alerts.
