- Villa GrimaldiIn this digital essay, NYU's Professor Diana Taylor ".. presents four visits I made to the infamous detention center on the outskirts of Santiago de Chile between 2006 and 2013....This essay, then, invites the reader to accompany me on several walks through Villa Grimaldi, and to think through the many issues this site (and others like it) raise in terms of memory, history, place, performance, trauma, and political contestation. Who are these spaces for? What do they ask of us? How can sites, visits, audio tapes, video testimony, and digital essays such as this one transmit a sense of what happened there, to them, and at the same time, engage ‘us’ as co-participants in the drama?"
- United Nations, Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes - A tool for prevention, 2014During October 2014 the UN Office of the Special Advisers on the Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect released the Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes. The Framework provides a comprehensive list of risk indicators to better help the international community act early- to prevent atrocities. The Framework is broken down into two sets of risk factors: common risk factors that address concerns more broadly and specific risk factors which detail indicators specific to genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
