The Purpose of Data Synthesis

Data synthesis will develop a new conceptual picture of the phenomena of interest in relation to the data acquired in the review process. 

Creating a Data Matrix

Create a table which documents the citation information of each article to be included within the synthesis and provides the data needed to answer the research question. 

To acquire clean data, it is important that each column of information be documented consistently. It is best practice to keep one data point to each column. 

Here is an example from Toronto & Remington, 2020: Chapter 5.1

This table could have been detailed further by creating separate columns for Mother, Father and then by specific emotions
