What is HathiTrust?
HathiTrust is a collection of over 17 million digitized volumes, collected for the purpose of preserving print materials and extending accessibility to libraries across the world. As members, patrons of Binghamton University Libraries may fully search all of these digitized volumes, and have full text access to any materials no longer in copyright.
Accessing HathiTrust
- HathiTrust Digitized materials from member institutions and libraries are freely available to the public for items not under copyright restrictions (generally pre-1923 and most government documents). Downloading and other functions may be limited.
Materials in HathiTrust can be accessed directly through their website, or you may come across items in Find It! that are also accessible through HathiTrust.
For full access to certain materials, you may need to sign in, which can be done at any time on HathiTrust's website by hitting the "Log In" button at the top of the page.
Select Binghamton University from the list of institutions, and sign in with your BU Computer ID login credentials.
When you search in Find It!, you may also see "Full text may be available at HathiTrust" beneath some records. If you click on that link, you'll be brought directly to that item in HathiTrust.
